Content:

1.  It is important to consistently work on your senior project, whether it is break or we are in school.  What did you do over the break with your senior project?

Yes it is important that you constantly work on your project since there is a lot of information to be gathered. I put in some hours with my mentor this break.

2.  What was the most important thing you learned from what you did, and why?  What was the source of what you learned?

I learned that the time of season doesn't necessarily affect sales, for example the Christmas season, sales were expected to be high but they did not turn out to be. My mentor was my main source since I spent most of my hours with him.

3.  If you were going to do a 10 question interview on questions related to answers for your EQ, who would you talk to and why?

I would talk to my mentor since he is very knowledgeable on business, I think he would be able to answer my questions and help me.

Blog 5 - Mentorship Reflection

1. Describe your experience in how you found your mentorship?
At first I had a different topic and I wasn't very interested in that topic when I found out about this one I immediately changed it. When I did change it I was worried because it was late in the summer and I had to complete the hours for my mentorship. One day I went to mall and I stumbled upon a kiosk and talked with a man working, it turns out he was the owner. A few days later I returned and explained to him about a mentorship and he agreed, I just had to wait a week or two while he cleared up some things with his insurance. After he did he agreed and I officially had a mentor, by then it was already the first week of school.

2. What has been your most important article you have read so far and why?
The most important article I have read so far was one on hiring employees. Instead of hiring based on how they answer general questions and their resume, a business owner proposed a new method of hiring. This new method would focus primarily on the interviewees interests and hobbies. This is very important, not only because it gives them a chance to openly express themselves, but because it gives the hiring manager or business owner a better understanding of their strengths in order to properly place in the business. This in turn utilizes their strengths while maintaining interest in their work, improving efficiency thus improving profits for the business.
